The story begins with Theoni, the soul behind the villa, who helped design the space with love and intention. Inspired by her grandmother’s house, Theoni blended traditional architectural elements — like elegant curves and handcrafted wooden shutters over sunlit glass windows — to preserve the spirit of the island's past. Every detail whispers a memory.

 

The villa sits on land that once belonged to Theoni’s grandfather, the only teacher in Santorini at the time, who would take her hand-in-hand to harvest grapes from their old family vineyard. Back then, they simply called it "Dagri" — named after the previous owner, a local scientist and former koinotarchis (village leader) of Vothonas, who left Santorini for America but left behind stories rooted in the soil.

Today, those vines still wind through the lush garden that surrounds Dagris Villa. It's lovingly cared for by Dr. Mike, Theoni’s husband — a mathematician and professor turned gardener. You’ll find more than grapevines here: fig trees, white eggplants, Santorini tomatoes, katsounia cucumbers, quinces, and sweet pears all grow in harmony. The land is alive with tradition.

 

Though both retired teachers, Theoni and Mike have poured their energy and warmth into this villa, welcoming guests not as strangers, but as part of their extended family. They live on the property themselves, often sipping Greek coffee on the balcony or tending to the lush garden that surrounds the villa. A member of the family is always nearby — ready to share a story, offer local tips, or simply chat. It’s this personal touch, this closeness, that sets Dagris Villa apart — offering not just a place to stay, but a genuine taste of Greek life.

 

And then there’s Margarita — their spirited daughter, bursting with unstoppable energy. She’s a tour guide, wedding planner, polyglot (fluent in Greek, English, Italian, German, French — and always learning more!), a former team member at a local yachting company, a coder, and your personal Santorini insider.
