Kampia Beach in Santorini.
Kampia: Tucked-away peace on the edge of the island.

Peaceful swims, quiet views, and a break from the crowds

Santorini’s famous beaches are beautiful — and busy. But if you’re after something quieter, more natural, and a little off the radar, these are the spots we go to.

Some have beach bars with chill music, most don’t. All offer stillness, space, and that slower summer feeling we locals never get tired of.

🌊 1. Eros Beach (by Theros Wave Bar)

Tucked between cliffs on the south coast, Eros feels like a secret escape — remote, dramatic, and a little bit lunar. The drive down is twisty and wild, with rock formations shaped by wind and soft volcanic ash.

You’ll need a car to get there. Once you park, walk through Theros Bar and down the stone steps to the beach. You can rent a sunbed from the bar — always ask for the price first, as front row costs a bit more.

The beach is pebbly and the water entry can be tricky, but here’s a tip: walk to the left, near the wave breakers — there’s a smoother way in from there.

Theros is built right into the cliff and, yes, it’s a little pricey — but totally worth it for the peaceful setting, the view, and a properly made cocktail. No loud party scene, no crowds. Just the sea, some chill music, and volcanic stillness.

🏖️ 2. Koloumbos Beach (also spelled Kouloubos or Koloumpos)

A long, quiet beach backed by sculpted cliffs and open sea. You’ll find a small organized section with sunbeds and a beach bar in front of Koloumbos Beachfront Suites — and yes, it’s open to everyone, not just hotel guests.

Most people park at the curve near the taverna and walk down one of the footpaths. The further you go, the wilder it gets. Nudists often gather at the far ends, so don’t be surprised.

The sea is beautiful but not always calm — when the wind’s up, the waves can get rough, so use good judgment before swimming. Avoid setting up too close to the cliffs, as small rockfalls do happen. Bring whatever you’ll need for the day — beyond the hotel, there’s no service.

🍸 3. Exo Gialos Beach (with Yalos Beach Bar)

Just a short drive from Fira but tucked away enough that you’d miss it if you didn’t know to look. The star here is Yalos, a stylish beach bar and restaurant right on the black-pebble shore.

The food is genuinely excellent — think elegant beachside fine dining, not just snacks and cocktails. They also throw amazing beach parties in the summer. Picture bohemian decor, natural textures, good music, and sunset drinks. Check their Instagram (@yalos.santorini) for the date of the next party — it’s where locals and stylish visitors go when they want a proper night out without heading to the caldera.

The beach is clean and relaxed, and you can swim or just lounge with a spritz in hand. Parking is usually fine during the day, but for party nights — come early or share a ride.

⛵ 4. Caldera Beach (below Akrotiri)

Not many people swim on the caldera side of the island — which is exactly why this beach feels like a secret. Caldera Beach is tiny, quiet, and dramatic, with steep red cliffs and deep blue water right in the heart of the caldera.

Follow the road down through Akrotiri toward the sea — you’ll spot Santorini Dive Center just before the beach. There’s a narrow, rocky shore with enough space to sit and swim.

The water is deep, clear, and ideal for floating or snorkeling. There’s no bar or service, so bring water and whatever you need. A great place to escape for a swim and then head into Akrotiri village for dinner.

🪨 5. Kampia Beach (near Red Beach, but way less crowded)

Most people stop at Red Beach and never make it here — which is exactly why Kampia is worth the detour. Small, peaceful, and surrounded by steep rock walls, it’s perfect for a quiet swim and a break from the crowds.

You’ll find a dirt road that leads down to a small parking area. From there, it’s a short walk to the beach — narrow, pebbly, and incredibly quiet. No frills, no big setup — just a few sunbeds, a simple beach taverna, and no pressure to do anything but swim and relax.

Grab a cold drink or something grilled before you leave, or just stay and do absolutely nothing — it’s that kind of place.

Before You Go

A few of these beaches take a little effort to reach, but that’s part of what makes them special. Bring what you need, go early if it’s windy, and don’t expect service — expect peace. If you’re staying with us at Dagris Villa and want help finding one of these spots (or choosing which fits your day best), just ask. We’re always happy to share our favorites — as long as you promise not to tell too many people.
