Not Just Moussaka: Where We Actually Eat in Kamari
Kamari has plenty of places to eat — some traditional, some modern, some right on the beach, and some a little tucked away. This isn’t a list of the trendiest spots or only the most authentic tavernas. These are simply places we enjoy: where we eat, hang out, or bring our friends when they visit.
Some are great for seafood, some for cocktails and pizza, some for meze and music. We’ve included a mix, because after all, you’re not going to eat the same thing every night, right?
Here are 5 restaurants near Dagris Villa that we genuinely like — and think you will too:
🌟 1. Tavern Galini (Local Favorite — just steps from Dagris Villa)
This is our Sunday spot. Galini sits right on the beach, with tables practically touching the sea — the only place in Kamari like it. Locals pack the place for family lunches (especially on Sundays), and for good reason: the fish is always fresh, the portions are generous, and Manolis, the owner, treats everyone like family. What to order: The grilled calamari is a must, especially with a glass of chilled local white wine. Come for lunch, linger for hours.
2. To Pinakio (Near the main square — cozy, lively, and loved by locals)
One of the few spots in Kamari where you’ll find young Greeks spending a whole evening together — talking, laughing, and slowly sipping drinks. The menu is all about Greek meze: small shared plates like tomato fritters, grilled cheese, and meatballs, made to come out in rounds.
Try a warm glass of rakomelo (raki infused with honey and spices) or their sweet house-made oinomelo — a spiced wine served in little carafes. This isn’t a quick dinner spot — it’s a place to stay a while.
3. Soul by Splash (Right on the beach promenade — comfort food with a view)
If you're craving a break from traditional tavern dishes, Soul by Splash hits the spot. The menu mixes Mediterranean and European flavors — think truffle pizza, pasta, big salads, great breakfast options, and a few Greek-inspired plates with a modern twist.
It’s perfect for guests who want variety, especially if you're staying a little longer. Our Italian guests love it (and honestly, we do too when we’re in the mood for something different). The vibe is casual, bright, and beachy — ideal for a lazy brunch or a sunset dinner with cocktails.
Full disclosure: the owner, Foteini, is my cousin. But I’d still recommend it even if she weren’t.
4.Dimitris Restaurant (A popular spot for celebrations — book ahead!)
I’ve been to Dimitris more times than I can count — it’s the go-to place when one of my many relatives is getting married. I haven’t actually done the full Greek night myself, but my guests have — and they had the best time.
It’s lively, a little over-the-top, and yes, a bit touristy… but who cares? There’s music, dancing, and flying plates, and people love it. The food is classic and satisfying — grilled meats, big salads, and plenty of wine to go around.
Just make sure you book early if you want a front-row seat to the fun. Bonus points if you end up dancing with a stranger or get handed a shot by a waiter mid-Zorba.
5. Saliveros (A classic taverna at the quieter end of Kamari)
Simple, honest, and full of flavor. Saliveros is a family-run favorite with big portions, grilled meats, classic Greek starters, and cold beer. There’s nothing flashy about it — just good food, kind service, and the kind of place that always feels like a good idea.
